Woman Creates Friend-Matching Platform for Women to Tackle Loneliness After Relocating or Lifestyle Changes, and Ghosting
Pink Filters is the newest social-network and addresses a significant issue many women face after relocating to a new city or a lifestyle change – loneliness.
Jae, Founder of Pink-Filters.com, describes her own struggle after relocating, “It was awful. I had no friends to hang out with after work or during the weekend. I was sad a lot and it really took a toll on me, mentally. I knew I had to do something about it, but something that could also help other women who face the same problem.”
Pink Filters is named after the site’s most attractive feature – its search filters. “I also call them compatibility measures,” said Jae.
After reviewing the site, we could tell that Pink Filters is no ordinary social network and was designed by a woman, for women .
The site uses over 30 different compatibility measures to help women find their most suitable friendships. The compatibility measures are over 30 different things women care about when considering what they want in a friend. “When women search for friends on the site, they can use the compatibility measures as search criteria, whether they want a foodie, a thrifter, or someone who dresses like Carrie Bradshaw, Rihanna, or Joan Carol Clayton,” said Jae.
“My goal with Pink Filters is to foster transparency in order to empower and inform women and minimize ghosting. I want to empower women to connect with the women they feel best suits their lifestyle. I also want to offer women enough information about potential friends up front so that there is less of a chance of anyone being ghosted,” explained Jae.
Ghosting is a popular method of disconnecting with someone in the dating world. Ghosting is defined as: the practice of ending a personal relationship with someone by suddenly and without explanation withdrawing from all communication.
“Many people are too uncomfortable to express their uninterest and so they just disappear. After a few times, this could have psychological impacts on the person being ghosted,” explained Jae. “Pink Filters doesn’t give women a short paragraph and a picture and expect for them to determine whether or not to connect with a person based on such limited information. We prioritize our members’ mental health through fostering transparency.”
Jae is amongst the first of African American women to join names like Mark Zuckerberg and Elon Musk in an effort to connect people, and the very first to do it in such a unique way.
“We’re living in a time where many people are looking to build new friendships, for different reasons. Pink Filters was inspired by my own struggle with finding friends in a new city, but I hope that no matter the reason, Pink Filters can be the solution for women everywhere,” said Jae.
Pink Filters is growing its membership and has received positive comments from its members, most of whom expressed that they like the ability to find friends based on such precise compatibility.
Pink Filters is a service for women ages 18 and older.
